Who we are

Keith Peters (left) and Lee Barrett (right) have teamed up to form Eco-Logistics and offer event organizers the benefit of over 30 years of both road race and solid waste management experience. (The photo above was taken at the Cascade Run Off in 1985.)

Keith was the longtime race coordinator for the Cascade Run Off in Portland, Oregon. He was also Nike’s running events manager in the mid-80’s, so he’s been behind the scenes at major road races across the country and around the world. Now living in Jackson Hole, Keith is a consultant to numerous environmentally focused non-profit organizations and small businesses. To learn more about Keith’s consulting business visit kpcomm.biz.

Throughout the Cascade Run Off’s 17-year existence, Lee was the course logistics coordinator and worked with City of Portland officials to gain approval and cooperation for myriad race related details. Lee remains actively involved in the running scene as the longstanding state certifier for course measurement in Oregon.

But it’s on the solid waste management front where Lee really shines. He recently retired from Metro, Portland’s tri-county regional government, where he managed the region’s solid waste management initiatives. Prior to that he worked in Portland’s Office of Sustainable Development, where he managed the commercial recycling section. Lee is currently serving on the board of the Association of Oregon Recyclers as Past Chair (he’s been elected Chair of the organization three different times).

Robin Hawley

Joining the team in 2009 is Robin Hawley. As you’ll see, even though she likes to follow Lee around, she brings tremendous experience with her.

Robin has worked extensively in the recycling field, starting when she was working on her undergraduate and Master’s degrees at Portland State University. While she was in school she worked as a contractor for the City of Portland on various projects. After graduating, she went to work for Intel and Epson managing their environmental programs. She then was hired by the City of Portland’s Office of Sustainable Development to manage their commercial recycling program, where she first worked with Lee. She followed Lee to Metro Regional Government and managed a regional effort to improve recycling and green operations for businesses in the metropolitan region.

Robin comes to Eco-Logistics after her work at a private consulting firm, Ecos Consulting, focused on energy conservation and sustainability where she managed their project management office. Robin also spent many years volunteering for the Susan G.. Komen Foundation, Portland Race For The Cure®. She started and maintained the recycling program and then went on to Chair the Race event in 2000 and 2001.. This event, with over 42,000 participants, achieved notable recovery while Robin was overseeing the recycling operations, recovering 72% of their waste while only landfilling 28%! She wrote the Race for the Cure® Recycling Guide, which Eco-Logistics offers to other events here.
